The fascination of cars

Wolfsburg – there’s no other city in Germany where the subject of automobiles is so present as it is here. That shouldn’t come as a surprise: Wolfsburg was founded in 1938 as the “City of the KdF Car at Fallersleben” and the Volkswagen Group’s headquarters are still located here today.

Historical Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg is one of Germany’s youngest cities. Founded in 1938 as the “City of the KdF Car at Fallersleben”, it was finally named Wolfsburg in 1945 after the castle by the River Aller. However, the districts of Wolfsburg that were incorporated later are quite a bit older and some of them date back centuries.
