From the art museum to the grand entrance of the stars

Friends of art and culture find what their heart desires in Wolfsburg: The Wolfsburg Art Museum inspires visitors with top-class contemporary and avant-garde art. Young art, as well as documentary and great art, await visitors at Wolfsburg Castle, an impressive architectural monument of the North German Renaissance. The Scharoun Theatre – the largest theatre for guest performances in Germany – impresses with its magnificent national and international breadth and brings diverse art forms and genres to the stage. And from there it’s only a few steps to the Planetarium, the only large planetarium in Lower Saxony, where the stars make their grand entrance.

Museums & Galleries

The young city of Wolfsburg has quite a few cultural highlights to offer. They include a large number of museums and galleries. Painting, sculpture, photography and the like: the Wolfsburg Art Museum inspires visitors with top-class contemporary and avant-garde art. Important exhibitions of works – some of them German premières – can be seen there. Documentary and great art await visitors at Wolfsburg Castle. An impressive cultural centre has evolved here in the shape of the City Museum, the Municipal Gallery, the Art Association and the institute of the renowned photographer Heinrich Heidersberger.

Castles

Castles are the silent witnesses of a bygone age. They tell exciting stories from the past and at the same time offer a haven of peace and a counterpoint to the hectic pace of modern life in big cities. That is also true of Wolfsburg Castle, name giver and symbol of the young city, with its beautifully landscaped castle park, not to mention Fallersleben Castle from the 16th century and Neuhaus moated castle.
